Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated To Host Free Online Workshops On Financial Literacy Amidst COVID-19
CHICAGO – November, 2020, Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated – Tau Xi Zeta Chapter of Forest Park, Ill. will host two free online workshops for the general public, focused on financial matters during these times of a global pandemic. The financial literacy workshops will take place online via the Zoom conferencing tool with the first workshop, “Know Your Credit” taking place on Saturday, Nov. 7th from 11:30am – 12:30pm CT. The second workshop, “Home Buying 101”, will take place on the following Saturday, Nov. 14th from 11:30am – 1:00pm CT. “Our financial literacy workshops are designed to provide the community with much needed information about credit and the property ownership process, while connecting individuals with professionals who can be of service during these times,” said Michele King, President of Tau Xi Zeta chapter. Being the first of its kind held online by the chapter, Tau Xi Zeta will be working alongside several financial industry experts and businesses rooted in the organization’s hometown of Forest Park, Ill. and the surrounding western suburbs of Chicago of which it serves.
The first financial workshop, “Know Your Credit”, will include discussion about why credit matters, how credit works, and how to improve one’s credit score. The second financial workshop, “Home Buying 101”, will include discussion centered around the home buying process: types of mortgages, how to secure home loans, home inspections, the importance of a real estate lawyer, down payments and closing costs, and a host of other financial topics. “With our sisterhood turning 100 years old this year, a global pandemic has not stopped the spirit of why we work on behalf of others. We press forward, adapt, and continue to serve our community,” said King.
